Bozburun was an ancient settlement in Caria with a history dating back to 2000 B.C. In historical documents, the village was known as ‘Larymna' meaning ‘Sand People'.

Tourism and Gulet building are the main sources of income for the inhabitants of Bozburun.

Bozburun, with its natural harbour and its sea as calm as the waters of a lake, is an attraction point for the sailing boats and those who wish to spend a lovely holiday.

Bed capacity of the village is 900. There are currently 150 gulets in Bozburun providing services for blue voyages. Bozburun is also visited by approximately 6000 private yachts every year.
